Organization of Work
First Resumed Session of the Fifth Committee
6 March 2017
Madam Chair,
At the outset, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and to my fellow colleagues at this start of the first resumed session of this Committee. Allow me also to express my sincere appreciation for your leadership, Madam Chair, and for the dedication of the Bureau members during the main session. I would also like to acknowledge and commend the flexibility shown by all the Member States as well as the contribution of the Executive Secretary of the Fifth Committee, which made it possible for us to finish on time and by consensus.
In this first resumed session, we have before us many important issues, including the special political missions, the revised estimates and the PBIs. I am confident, however, that we can finish this session within the allotted time frame. In this regard, my delegation expects the timely submission of documentations as requested in paragraph 29 of General Assembly Resolution 70/247, which my delegation believes is a prerequisite for us to hold our discussions in a responsible manner.
Madam Chair,
Let me conclude by assuring you that my delegation will continue to engage in all the discussions of this session in a positive and constructive manner. My delegation looks forward to working with all the other delegations with a view to achieving a consensus on all items.
I thank you, Madam Chair.
