第68回女性の地位委員会(CSW)合意結論採択における山中大使ステートメント
令和6年3月27日
(As delivered)
Thank you, Mr. Chair.
Japan expresses its utmost appreciation to Ambassador Yoka Brandt and her team for their exceptional and professional facilitation throughout the informal consultation process. Despite the challenges from the liquidity crisis, Ambassador Brandt and her team facilitated the consultation in a very efficient and time-conscious manner, which resulted in a successful adoption of the Agreed Conclusions in a timely manner.
Mr. Chair,
Japan would also like to thank Ambassador Brandt and her team for guiding us and uplifting us and overcoming the time constraints and balancing the diverse views and opinions of Member States. In every CSW Agreed Conclusions negotiation, Japan prioritizes reaching a consensus among Member States because we consider it most important that every Member State has a sense of ownership of the text and thus utilizes it for their national actions. Preference for the wording and language expressions might differ, but all Member States share the same principal goals to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.
Mr. Chair,
I would like to conclude by thanking all the Member States for their constructive discussions and showing flexibility to come to a consensus, with our thanks to the UN Women colleagues for their tireless efforts in editing the texts and supporting the informal consultations.
