第81回国連総会第3委員会ミャンマーに関するインタラクティブ・ダイアローグにおける梅津大使ステートメント
令和8年10月27日

(As delivered)
Thank you, Mr. Chair.
Japan appreciates the valuable insights shared by the briefers. We remain deeply concerned about the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in Myanmar. Japan calls on the Myanmar military to end all violence, especially targeting innocent civilians and release those arbitrarily detained, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Meaningful political progress through sincere dialogue among all parties and improvements in people's livelihoods are essential to resolving this crisis.
Japan will continue to provide maximum support for the unified efforts of ASEAN, including the full and swift implementation of the Five-Point Consensus. We welcome the continued engagement of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, Madam Bishop, and encourage closer coordination with the ASEAN Chair's Special Envoy toward a peaceful and inclusive solution.
Japan also remains deeply concerned about the plight of the Rohingya and we commend Bangladesh for hosting over 1.2 million displaced persons from Myanmar. Since March 2017, Japan has provided approximately 241.5 million USD in humanitarian assistance, including 17.5 million USD this year. We will continue to support displaced persons and host communities alike, while underscoring the need to establish conditions that enable their voluntary, safe, and dignified return to Myanmar.
Madam Special Envoy,
You have engaged with all parties concerned in order to build mutual trust and create conducive environment for meaningful dialogue. Based on these engagements, what do you consider the key priorities for the UN and the broader international community in advancing a peaceful and inclusive resolution to the crisis in Myanmar?
I thank you.
