UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS執行理事会第1回定例会UNDP総裁との対話における御巫大使ステートメント
令和8年2月3日

Thank you, Mr. President,
Japan and UNDP share a deep commitment to national ownership and genuine partnership. On that foundation, we are united by human security and by a shared determination to translate principle into progress people can feel in their daily lives.
Japan’s priorities are threefold.
First, we recognize the HDP nexus and early recovery as UNDP’s distinctive strengths, linking urgent needs to lasting resilience. In fragile settings, the nexus protects people today while restoring institutions and services that reduce the risk of renewed violence tomorrow. Japan will continue its contribution to prevention, early recovery, and peacebuilding.
Second, as public finances tighten, Japan values UNDP’s role as a catalyst for private sector engagement. We encourage UNDP to strengthen public-private partnerships by advancing institutional building and business-enabling reforms, so investment can flow to where it is needed most.
Third, Japan appreciates UNDP’s longstanding role as a co-organizer of TICAD. We thank the Regional Bureau for Africa for its cooperation. Initiatives such as Timbuktoo and credit-rating projects align with TICAD’s focus on mobilizing private finance for Africa and look forward to even closer collaboration.
As UN80 discussions proceed, Japan would appreciate early, concrete information on options under consideration regarding possible UNDP/UNOPS merger. We will also follow closely how relocations to Bonn and Madrid may affect UNDP’s field operations and communications with the Member States.
Japan looks forward to continued dialogue with UNDP, and to translating our shared priorities into measurable results for those we serve.
I thank you, Mr. President
