UNICEF執行理事会 2022年第一回定期会合における木村大使による東京栄養サミット2021に関する共同ステートメント

令和4年2月8日

I would like to thank the Executive Director for her opening statement.

I am honoured to deliver this joint statement on behalf of Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Ireland, Lebanon, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and my country, Japan.

We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the outcomes of the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth(N4G) Summit 2021 which aimed to transform the way the world tackles the global challenge of malnutrition in all its forms.

The N4G summit generated commitments of US$27 billion to address the global malnutrition and hunger crisis. 45 low and middle-income countries led the way and delivered renewed policy and financial commitments to end malnutrition, compiled as the Tokyo Compact on Global Nutrition for Growth, and endorsed by 215 stakeholders and partners.

France will host the next Nutrition for Growth Summit in 2024. This will be an opportunity to review progress with commitments made at the 2021 summit.

We welcome UNICEF’s leadership in ending malnutrition and the commitments made at the Nutrition for Growth Summit. We encourage UNICEF to support its contributing partners to better monitor and quantify progress in the achievement of better nutrition outcomes, across the extensive range of UNICEF programmes, by employing the OECD DAC Nutrition Policy Marker.

We thank the Board for its consideration.
