国連女性機関(UN Women)執行理事会2023年第1回定期会合(議題3: 政策・プログラム)における秋田書記官 ステートメント

令和5年2月14日

Madame President,

I would like to thank UN Women for its comprehensive briefing on the operational response to the Asia and Pacific Region. Japan commends UN Women's response in the region from 2018-2022. Women's leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women, and women, peace and security and humanitarian action are the areas that Japan has consistently supported in the region through UN Women, and Japan will continue its support to UN Women in close collaboration with each government. In particular, Japan welcomes the progress on women, peace and security including the development of national action plans on WPS in fourteen countries in the region.

Japan takes note of UN Women's priorities in the Asia-Pacific region for 2023-2025.
As the Asia-Pacific region is prone to natural disasters and humanitarian crises, considering the membership of UN Women to the Inter-Agency Standing Committee, Japan expects further enhancement of gender commitments in humanitarian response, and that the priorities and needs of women and girls will be thoroughly ensured across the humanitarian system.

Japan continues to strive to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment domestically and in the region together with Member States, regional partners, UN partners and other stakeholders.

I thank you.
