Video message by State Foreign Minister UTO at the virtual Ministerial Roundtable held jointly by UN Women and the Government of Denmark

On December 7, Mr. UTO Takashi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a video message (English translation (PDF)), at the virtual Ministerial Roundtable held jointly by UN Women and the Government of Denmark.
- In this meeting, representatives from various countries discussed and shared their efforts on supporting women and girls, having considered that gender responsive perspectives was the key to build back better from the social and economic damages caused by the pandemic.
- State Minister UTO stated in his video message that COVID-19 has heavily impacted women and girls and the international community must find a solution to this problem. He also stated that the Government of Japan will continue close cooperation with UN Women to build a society where "no one is left behind", even including those women marginalized by the pandemic.
- The participants further discussed the importance of improving environment for telework, wage gap, and access to funding opportunity for women business owners, with a view to promoting gender responsive perspective, to build back better society after the COVID-19 pandemic.
