Award Ceremony for the Student Haiku Contest

On June 5th, the Award Ceremony for the Student Haiku Contest 2020 and 2021 was held online and was hosted by the United Nations International School (UNIS), the Northeast Council of Teachers of Japanese (NECTJ) together with the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations.
Ambassador KIMURA Tetsuya attended the online Award Ceremony and gave remarks, after which the Haiku that received first, second, and third place in the SDGs Division, Japanese Division, English Division, French Division and Spanish Division were presented along with comments and feedback from the judges.
The 16th Annual Haiku Contest held this year received 513 Haiku from students and teachers all over the country, and the 15th Annual Haiku Contest held in 2020 received 1,279 Haiku, though the Award ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
