The Conferring of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star upon His Excellency, Mr. Maged Abdelfattah Abdelaziz

The government of Japan conferred H.E. Mr. Maged Abdelfattah Abdelaziz with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star on 19th May, 2022 at the residence of H.E. ISHIKANE Kimihiro, the Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations.
This prestigious award was bestowed on Ambassador Abdelaziz for exceptional merit in recognition of his contribution to the process of Tokyo International Conference for African Development(TICAD) which was launched in 1993 and has been a pioneering multilateral forum for African development.
During his five years of service as Special Advisor for Africa to the United Nations Secretary-General from 2012 to 2017, Ambassador Abdelaziz greatly contributed, as one of the co-organizers, to the success of TICAD V in Yokohama in 2013 and TICAD VI in Nairobi in 2016, the first TICAD held in Africa. Through his personal engagement and dedication, he contributed to make the TICAD process even more relevant to the broad agenda of African development.
