Organization
The activities of the Permanent Mission are conducted by five sections.
- The Political Section is in charge of regional issues before the Security Council, disarmament and non-proliferation, peacekeeping operations, and matters of international justice.
- The Economic Section handles development issues, reconstruction aid, environmental issues, and cooperation with offices such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
- The Social Section addresses social, human rights, humanitarian issues, and human security issues.
- The Administrative, Budgetary & UN Recruitment Section handles negotiations concerning the United Nations budget and country assessment rates, and works to increase the number of Japanese nationals working in United Nations institutions.
- The Coordination Section is in charge of the general management of the Mission, including, among others, protocol, communication, security, and accountability. It is also responsible for the coordination of inter-sectional issues such as public relations through media outreach, briefings, etc., liaisoning with the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly's offices, and special events..
