Stakeout by Ambassador Jun Yamazaki on the Adoption of the Resolution on Human Security by the UN General Assembly

10 September, 2012

On 10 September 2012, Ambassador Jun Yamazaki made short remarks to Japanese correspondents after the UN General Assembly adoption of the resolution on Human Security.

Ambassador Yamazaki told the correspondents that through the adoption of the resolution, which had been promoted by Japan and Jordan, the Member States were able to converge on a common understanding on the notion of Human Security.  He welcomed this, and expressed hope that this notion will become even more widely accepted in the international community and that the implementation of human security will become wide spread.  He also said that Japan continues to have interest in seeing various projects being undertaken through the use of the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security as well as its ODA.

He also responded to questions from the correspondents.
