On August 21, students from Nanzan University visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to attend a briefing session by Mr. Taguchi, Counsellor, on Japanese UN diplomacy.
Mr. Taguchi first touched upon the system and the structure of the United Nations and introduced his daily routine as an officer at the Japanese Mission. He also talked about the uniqueness of the United Nations, as well as the difficulty of the diplomacy at the United Nations where 193 Member States participate in discussions. In this regard, he explained the importance of the role that the Japanese Mission has to express the Government of Japan’s position at UN meetings.
After the briefing, Mr. Taguchi answered questions from the students.
