On August 3, Ambassador Nishida attended a stakeout with Japanese correspondents after the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Syria.  Ambassador Nishida told the correspondents that the adoption of the resolution, of which Japan was a co-sponsor, sent a strong message from the international community to the Syrian authorities who continue to attack civilians with heavy weapons against their promise.  He also said that Japan appreciates that the General Assembly issued such a strong message while the Security Council had been unable to make any effective decisions.
