On 25 July 2006 the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations sponsored the opening reception of a photo exhibit entitled, “Forgotten Afghan Refugee Children in Pakistan” in the United Nations Secretariat Lobby.
In 2005 Japanese photojournalist Satomi Kato traveled to the remote area of Peshawar, Pakistan to photograph the children as part of her graduate thesis in photography at American University.
The remarks were given by Minister Jiro Kodera of the Permanent Mission of Japan, and Ms. Emmy Takahashi of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. |
