Briefing by Minister Nakamae to the Global Classroom Model U.N. Student Participants from Japan

        On 16 May, 10 students from Japan who were participating Global Classroom Model United Nations as Zimbabwe representatives visited the Permanent Mission of Japanes and attended a briefing by Mr. Takahiro Nakamae, Minister at the Permanent Mission of Japan.


        In the briefing, Minister Nakamae covered the history of the U.N. and the role of Japan in the organization among other topics.  Specifically, he touched upon themes such as the relevance of U.N. diplomacy in Japan’s foreign policy and major diplomatic issues that Japan is expected to address at the U.N.  He also made detailed descriptions on Japan’s originalities in its approach to peace building as well as the concept of Human Security.


        During the Q & A session which followed the briefing, the student asked Minister Nakamae how they could represent Zimbabwe and assert their position at the Model U.N. meetings.  Minister Nakamae made some suggestions and the students listened intently to prepare themselves for the Model U.N.
