7 March 2013

On 7 March, Ambassador Tsuneo Nishida, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, made remarks to Japanese correspondents after the adoption of Resolution 2094 by the United Nations Security Council on last February’s nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

At the stakeout, Ambassador Nishida stated with appreciation that the resolution, which imposes additional and tougher sanctions to the previous Security Council sanctions, was adopted as a result of the cooperation of key countries such as the U.S, the Republic of Korea, China and Russia. He also stated that Japan strongly urges the DPRK to face the strong warnings and condemnations, to comply faithfully and fully with the series of UN Security Council resolutions including the one just adopted today, and to not conduct any further provocative actions.
