On March 5th, 2012, the opening ceremony for “3.11 Great East Japan Disaster Photo Exhibit” was held at the Visitors Lobby of the United Nations Headquarters where Ambassador Jun Yamazaki made a speech. Following the Ambassador’s speech, Ms. Yoka Brandt, Deputy Director-General of UNICEF, and Mr. Naoyoshi Togo, Vice Chairman of the Japan Committee for UNICEF, gave speeches as well.

         This photo exhibition sponsored by UNICEF was held from March 5th to 30th. The photographs on display were taken by twenty-six Japanese press agencies and twenty-three prominent photographers.  This event was held to report post-quake conditions and to show Japan’s gratitude toward the international community for their support.
