Briefing by Ambassador Kodama to Students from Hofstra University

On 22 January, 15 students from Hofstra University visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to attend a briefing by Ambassador Kodama, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations.

 

During the briefing, Ambassador Kodama explained in details about the Japanese position on the necessity of UN Security Council Reform as well as on the current difficult diplomatic situation with China over the issue of the Senkaku Islands. He also discussed the issue of Japanese nuclear energy and the linkage between domestic politics of Japan and its relation with the UN and international affairs.

In his concluding remarks, Ambassador Kodama advised the students that it was very essential to keep interest in the matters happening around the world such as in Myanmar and in Africa.

 

Lastly, Ambassador Kodama answered questions from the students, who were attentive to his in depth lecture.
