On 22 January, Ambassador Tsuneo Nishida, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, made remarks to Japanese correspondents after the adoption of Resolution 2087 by the United Nations Security Council on the last December's Launch of the Missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

At the stakeout, Ambassador Nishida highly appreciated the fact that the resolution was adopted unanimously, thus signifying that the international community condemns last December's missile launch by the DPRK with a firm message and determines to take on measures to strengthen sanctions. He also stated that Japan strongly urges the DPRK to comply faithfully and fully with the series of UN Security Council resolutions including the one just adopted, and not to conduct any further provocative acts.
