Peace Memorial Tea Ceremony for the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations

 On September 21st, the Peace Memorial Tea Ceremony for the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations was held in the Indonesian Lounge at the United Nations Headquarters. 

 The ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, Madame Yoo Soon-taek, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, President of the General Assembly's 70th session, Ambassador and Madame Yoshikawa, Permanent Representatives, along with the members of the UN Secretariat. The Total number of participants to the ceremony was around 100.

 After remarks were given by Ambassador Yoshikawa, Dr. Genshitsu Sen and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the "Tea Offering Ceremony" was conducted by Dr. Sen. He prepared and offered a bowl of tea toward the hanging scroll entitled "Prayer for Peace", with earnest prayers for world peace. Then, in the "Tea sharing for peace", tea was served to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Madame Yoo Soon-taek, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, Ambassador and Madame Yoshikawa. Finally, tea was served to all the participants, and the ceremony was concluded in a peaceful atmosphere.
