The Hiroshima Peace Concert by the Hiroshima Traditional Japanese Music Federation

On Thursday April 30th, Permanent Mission of Japan held the Hiroshima Peace Concert featuring the Hiroshima Traditional Japanese Music Federation at the Ex-press bar in the UN.

To kick off the event, Ambassador Okamura, Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, and Mr.Kazumi Matsui, Mayor of Hiroshima, made opening speeches. After the speeches, the concert began with "Nihon no Shirabe,” played by children performers. About 140 guests including Permanent Representatives from UN Missions filled the venue. The guests were fascinated by their performance-Koto,Shakuhachi, and Japanese dancing.

A Sake tasting reception followed the performances, during which the audience were able to interact with the performers.
