Lecture to Fukuoka Kokura High School by Secretary Fukuda

On March 23rd, 20 students from Fukuoka Kokura High School visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to receive a lecture from Secretary Fukuda. Secretary Fukuda first introduced the role of the Mission and explained its work in detail. After introducing the work of the UN, he explained the role of the Security Council, elaborating specifically on the significance of its resolutions. Moreover, he raised the subject of Security Council Reform as one of Japan’s priorities and explained the importance of realizing the reform. After the lecture, students raised questions regarding counterterrorism, number of Japanese staffs at the UN, actual cases of multilateral negotiations, and so on. Secretary Fukuda carefully answered each question and gave words of advice on what to keep in mind as high school students and how to improve one’s language skills. |
