Lecture to students from Japanese School of New York by Counsellor Takahashi

        On November 3rd, 20 middle school students from Japanese School of New York visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to receive a lecture by Counsellor Takahashi.


        Counsellor Takahashi first introduced the major committees of the UN General Assembly. He also introduced each section of the Mission, and elaborated especially on the role of political section and issues it deals with, namely the Security Council reform and peacekeeping operations. Counsellor Takahashi also emphasized the importance of the 70th anniversary of the UN in the coming year and the 60th anniversary of Japan’s admission to the UN in 2016.


        After the lecture, Counsellor Takahashi carefully answered a wide range of questions raised by the students, including Ebola Outbreak and daily work at the Mission. Counsellor Takahashi closed his lecture by stating that he hopes this lecture gives an opportunity to students to deepen their understanding of the UN and to plan their future career.
