Organization of the Japanese cuisine reception

       H.E.Mr. Motohide Yoshikawa, Permanent Representative of Japan to the UN, and H.E.Mr. Sumio Kusaka, Consul General of Japan in NY, co-hosted the reception entitled "Enjoy Washoku Style Reception: World meets Japanese traditional dishes in New York" on September 24, 2014, in cooperation with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The reception was honored by the presence of Prime Minister and Mrs. Shinzo Abe, as well as 8 Heads of State and Government, 19 Ministers, senior officials of the UN, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and other dignitaries.

 

       Art of Japanese cuisine, classified as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, was featured at this reception hosted by the Government of Japan. A variety of flavorful dishes using high quality Japanese ingredients was created by Joachim Splichal, a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, inspired by his experiences of Japanese foods and food culture in Japan. Participants were also invited to discover Japanese traditional rice wine « Sake » of Hakushika and fine Japanese whiskey of Suntory.

 

       Global fashion designer Junko Koshino was a part of this event as the general producer. Visual elements of the space, as well as the food and beverages, were composed on the basis of Japanese tradition.
