Lecture to the Student Participants from Japan of the Global Classroom Model U.N. by Minister Shinsuke Shimizu

       On May 14th, eighteen students participating in the Global Classroom Model United Nations visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to receive a lecture by Minister Shinsuke Shimizu.

 

       Minister Shimizu began by explaining the historical background of the UN, including what the international community has achieved through the course of history. Furthermore, he raised specific examples of Japan’s contributions to the world through the UN. He concluded by stressing the importance of the UN to Japan in maintaining peace and prosperity in the world.

 

       Students raised detailed questions in response to Minister Shimizu’s lecture and showed their enthusiasm towards their upcoming Model-UN conference.
