The Peace and Hope Concert -Prayers for Peace from Hiroshima-

On 25 March, the Peace and Hope Choir of Hiroshima and the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations co-hosted “The Peace and Hope Concert” at the United Nations Economic and Social Council Chamber.
Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan, Ambassador Jun Yamazaki, opened the concert with welcoming remarks. He then handed the microphone over to Ms. Chizuko Tani, Director of the Hiroshima Choral Association, who introduced her chorus as well as the songs they performed.
The concert consisted of performances by the Peace and Hope Choir of Hiroshima, by the Chamber Choir of the Elisabeth University of Music, combined performance by the Peace and Hope Choir of Hiroshima and the Chamber Choir of the Elisabeth University of Music, a musical performance by Children’s Orchestra Society based in New York and a combined performance by the Children’s Orchestra Society, the UN Singers, the Peace and Hope Choir of Hiroshima and the Chamber Choir of the Elisabeth University of Music.
More than 120 people attended The Peace and Hope Concert, including numerous Permanent Representatives and high level officials from the UN Secretariat. With the original and creative performances, many guests left the concert pleased and with much appreciation for the performers. The concert was widely covered by the Japanese media. |
