25 March 2014
On March 25, seventeen students from the Fukuoka Prefectural Meizen High School visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to receive a lecture by Minister Katsuhiko Takahashi.
As opening remarks, Minister gave a brief explanation on the general information and role of each UN organ. He then talked about the content of the work at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN by referring to his schedule of one day as an example. Furthermore, he explained the difference between working in the UN and working for the Japanese government, as well as the position of Japan in the UN based on the questions already prepared by the students. He concluded by pointing out benefits of living abroad and the necessary know-hows to work in international community.
Students raised questions on the open debates at the UNSC and on difficulties and dangers such as terrorism that one might face in his/her life abroad. |
