58th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) “Disaster Risk Reduction and Empowerment of Women”

On 14 March, the Permanent Mission of Japan co-hosted a side-event of the 58th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) entitled “Disaster Risk Reduction and Empowerment of Women,” together with various Japanese NGOs that deal with women’s issues. At this side-event, which began with an opening address by Ambassador Umemoto, Japanese and Philippine experts explained the importance of addressing the specific needs of women in areas of disaster risk reduction. Seats at the venue were almost fully occupied, with more than 150 participants from various countries showing high interest. There were also thought-provoking questions and comments expressed during the Q&A session. . |
