Lecture to Cerritos High School Students by Ambassador Jun Yamazaki

6 March 2014

On 6 March, thirty-two students participating in the National High School Model UN from Cerritos High School located in California, visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to receive a lecture by Ambassador Jun Yamazaki.

Ambassador Yamazaki outlined the basic thinking behind Japan’s foreign policy. He further touched upon such issues as global health, disaster risk reduction and climate change. He explained Japan’s efforts for empowerment of women, referencing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s speech to the UN General Assembly in September 2013. Finally, he elaborated on his Government’s position on the post 2015 development agenda.

The students showed great interest as they listened to Ambassador Yamazaki’s lecture, and asked a number of questions related to Japan’s engagement with the United Nations.
