Reception to Raise Awareness of the North Korean Abduction Issue and DPRK Human Rights Resolution

28 October 2013

On October 28, Ambassador Yoshikawa hosted a reception at the Permanent Mission of Japan to raise awareness about the North Korean abductions issue and the draft resolution titled, “The Human Rights Situation in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”

This reception featured a screening of “Megumi,” a short film about the North Korean abductions issue, as well as a speech by Mr. Hideshi Mitani, Secretary-General of the Headquarters on the Abductions Issue at the Japanese Cabinet Secretariat. After attending the reception, many guests expressed a deeper understanding of both the abductions issue and the draft resolution, which will be jointly submitted by Japan and the EU later this month.
