Ambassador Kazuyoshi Umemoto Welcomes Yokohama Peace Messengers

         On October 28th, four students from Yokohama City visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations to pay a courtesy call to Ambassador Kazuyoshi Umemoto, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Mission of Japan. The students were the award winners of this year’s Yokohama International Speech Contest and have been appointed Peace Messengers of Yokohama City.

 

        The students introduced themselves and described their peace activities to Ambassador Umemoto. They said that they would like to pass on what they have learned during this trip to New York to their friends in Japan.

 

       Lastly, Ambassador Umemoto gave the Peace Messengers a brief overview of the United Nations and the activities of Permanent Mission of Japan. He also advised the students on the importance of keeping interest in the matters happening around the world.
