Briefing by Minister Nakamae to Interns at Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations

On August 7th, five students from the University of West Indies, currently interning at the Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Nations, visited the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations and received a briefing by Minister Takahiro Nakamae.
During the briefing, Minister Nakamae discussed Japan’s many contributions to the three pillars of the United Nations: peace and security, development, and human rights and humanitarian issues. He emphasized Japan’s focus on Human Security and its leadership on projects such as the Arms Trade Treaty and nuclear disarmament. He also discussed Japan’s assistance to developing nations in the fields of education and health, its active involvement in gender issues climate change and Security Council Reform. Finally, he touched on the relationship and cooperation between Japan and CARICOM.
The students showed great attentiveness and interest as they listened to Minister Nakame’s briefing. During the Q&A session, students asked a variety of questions related to global issues and Japan’s policies. |
