The Concert
Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Japan’s membership in the United Nations

On Friday April 1, 2016, the Permanent Mission of Japan, together with Fuzjko Hemming’s Office held a concert commemorating the 60th anniversary of Japan’s membership in the United Nations at the Economic and Social Council Chamber. Ambassador Motohide Yoshikawa, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, made opening remarks. Elaborating on the background and the purpose of this concert, Ambassador Yoshikawa expressed a determination that Japan continues commitment to the ideals and objectives of the United Nations. The pianist, Ms. Ingrid Fuzjko Hemming, and the harpist, Ms. Mariko Anraku, performed at this concert. The event was attended by approximately 550 guests, including H.E. Mr. Edmund Mulet, Chef de Cabinet, Mr. Yukio Takasu, Under-Secretary-General for Management, eleven Permanent Representatives and eleven Deputy Permanent Representatives. The audience was fascinated by their performances. Ms. Hemming and Ms. Anraku received a standing ovation from the audience. Their performances added greater meaning to the 60th anniversary of Japan’s membership in the United Nations.
