On June 17, Classic Live for the United Nations Japan with the support by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a musical performance based on the Earth Charter at the Japan Society, at which about 160 guests attended.
Minister Takahiro Nakamae of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations attended the musical performance where he gave speech congratulating Classic Live for their determination to bring the musical performance from Japan to New York, and he also spoke on issues related to the environment in connection with the performance’s theme.
On June 19, Classic Live for the United Nations Japan, co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations, performed the same musical performance based on the Earth Charter at the United Nations. About 90 guests from the United Nations, including UN staff, Mission diplomats, and their friends and family attended.
H.E. Ambassador Kazuo Kodama Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, represented the Mission of Japan at the musical performance, which opened with a chorus by the performers, where he made opening remarks congratulating the director and performers’ success. He noted that on the eve before the Rio+20 conference on Sustainable Development in Brasil, the performance was timely in its theme on the environment and the importance of a positive outcome at the Rio conference.
The performance was followed by a small reception and the guests had a chance to meet the performers while enjoying Japanese food and drinks.
