Japanese Culture Featured at UNDWC Event

29 January 2004

Members of the United Nations Delegations Women's Club (UNDWC) enjoyed an introduction to traditional Japanese culture at an event hosted by Mrs. Katsuko Haraguchi, wife of Permanent Representative Koichi Haraguchi, at the Official Residence on 29 January. The guests included Mrs. Charlotte Elizabeth Jennifer Hunte, wife of President of the fifty-eighth session of the General Assembly H.E. Mr. Julian R. Hunte, the wives of Ambassadors to the United Nations and other prominent women in the United Nations community.

The wives of Japanese delegates treated the guests to a kimono show and a demonstration of the tea ceremony (cha-no-yu), as well as an exhibit of various green teas realized with the cooperation of the ITO EN company. The UNDWC meets each month for an event designed to showcase the culture and special characteristics of the host country.
